Well, rumor has it the Adobe PSE 2022 program works without a glitch now, whereas before there were compatibility issues seen in Adobe with Mac M1 machines. In summary DO NOT BUY PSE if you have a MBP M1. I will do a Time Machine Restore using a backup from last week to get rid of this junk, I see no other way to clean up my machine. I wish I could return PSE (I am going to try even though it has been over 30 days, just installed it today, Christmas day). I know Adobe is trying to sell its Cloud services but I don’t need cloud storage, have plenty as is. Further, I launched Activity Monitor and some of these apps, the main Creative Cloud for instance, are hogging my RAM even when not using any Adobe apps. I now have a folder in Launchpad called Adobe Junk with ten, yes ten, Adobe junk apps whose purpose or functions are not clear to me or anyone, double clicking them does nothing. Secondly PSE 2014 installed cleanly on my old computer, no junk added, but PSE 2022 added a long list of so called Creative Cloud Apps which are not removable as doing so renders PSE unusable. Adobe should have created a native PSE or clearly warn users of the Rosetta need in the description. This is not satisfactory for a CPU intensive app. First, PSE 2022 will not run natively on Apple M1 machines – it goes through Rosetta translation which greatly slows down the app. I currently have PSE 2014 installed on another computer and got PSE 2022 for Christmas for my new MacBookPro M1 assuming similar behavior. “I have been using Photoshop Elements since the early 2000s. Here’s the Amazon link if anyone is interested in reading more on reasons not to install PSE 2022 on a Mac M1 I’ll find another photo/video editing program for my Mac M1. Both are pretty much an offline workhorse.

Adobe strongly recommends that customers do their own testing on a non-production partition to ensure that new operating systems work with their current hardware and drivers (printing, and so forth). You can choose to remain on your current version of macOS until these issues have been resolved. Photoshop 22.x and earlier have not been tested for compatibility with macOS Monterey (version 12) Photoshop 23.x is compatible with macOS Monterey (version 12) with these known issues The compatibility of Photoshop with macOS Monterey can be summarized as below: “ Which Photoshop versions are compatible with macOS Monterey? I’m not sure I’m really answering your question but maybe it’ll help. I did all this a couple months ago and it seems to have worked. The Adobe link assumes that you want to ultimately get CC back on your computer, so read the first link first which IMHO gives a better overview of what needs to be done to really get rid of it. I used a combination of methods in the following links to finally get rid of it. I tried dragging it to the trash and that didn’t help there were still a multitude of Adobe folders and files scattered all over the place. I was finally able to trace it to Creative Cloud trying to update. I could ‘cancel’ but around the first of every month the computer would turn into an unusable piece of junk, requiring multiple reboots some of which took 20 minutes to get it back on track. It seemed innocuous enough at first but then it started showing popup windows requesting updates. That’s when Creative Cloud showed up in the upper right near the wifi, time and date, etc.

I just maintain it with security, browser, and other software updates. I don’t usually use the iMAC I referred to.
